Public holiday for firefighters from Peuerbach

The procurement of a second fire brigade turntable ladder for the district of Grieskirchen developed into an almost never-ending story, albeit with a happy ending. For years, the Peuerbach fire brigade has been trying to get the turntable ladder and a rescue cage, which can be extended to a height of 32 meters and with which the firefighters can provide help and save lives. It will go into operation from the beginning of September, and the firefighters are still being trained.

“There is a high risk potential in the Peuerbach region with many companies, many partly four-storey residential buildings, the district old people’s home, a densely built-up city center and many agricultural properties,” says fire brigade commander Wolfgang Eder. So far, the northern part of the district has been a “blank spot” in terms of the supply of aerial rescue vehicles. It took many years of persuasion, several studies and many discussions before the need for a turntable ladder was seen, says Eder.

Thanks to a new financing key, in which the state and the state fire brigade command each take on 45 percent and the remaining 10 percent are borne by the municipality, the state fire brigade command was able to approve the acquisition costs of 781,000 euros more quickly.

In addition to rescuing people from great heights, a turntable ladder can be used to fight fires from above, and they are also useful for hail damage or snow pressure on roofs. The new turntable ladder was manufactured by the Rosenbauer company in Karlsruhe. Around 150 invited guests from Peuerbach and the fire brigade section received the turntable ladder.
