Sonja Hinterleitner from Steyr joined 141 other speakers at the 11th International Speaker Slam in Mastershausen. Just as poetry slams rhyme and rap, speakers at speaker slams compete against each other. The Steyr native Sonja Hinterleitner convinced the jury with her heart topic “lust for life & women’s power”. Since the participants talk about a wide variety of topics, each of them receives the so-called Excellence Award to take home.
The specifications for this specific competition are simple: everyone should present their topic within four minutes, and without any aids. Only a clock shows how much time is left. After that, the microphone will be turned off, whether you’re done or not. A speaker slam is all about the charisma. What matters is how the audience is treated. Body language is particularly important for a good appearance.
Hinterleitner, who likes to improvise in her speeches, is an expert on personal development: “It’s about empowering women so that they can create a self-determined and fulfilling life Needs, desires, dreams and visions take a back seat.”
