Actually, the congenial cabaret trio “Wir Staatskünstler” – consisting of Florian Scheuba, Thomas Maurer and Robert Palfrader – should have given one of their inimitable performances last April at the Gmundner Toscana Congress, but unfortunately one of the three jokers fell ill with Covid-19, whereupon the event had to be postponed to September 9th. This day is now within striking distance again: what takes a long time is apparently finally going to be good.
Are reality and satire really indistinguishable? The state artists provide evidence to the contrary and show that voluntary comedy is sometimes the best self-defense against involuntary comedy. In the brand new update of their successful stage program, Scheuba, Maurer and Palfrader present a satirical assessment of the political situation and its actors in Austria.
The reviews are overwhelming: “The gentlemen have done their job really well this time, the film clips like the copied Ibiza video are also wonderful. The political actors will have to make an effort to be able to keep up in terms of entertainment,” writes the “Presse” for example. . The colleagues from the “Salzburger Nachrichten” take the same tack: “Do we still need political cabaret? The ‘state artists’ provide a clear answer: Now more than ever!”
Tickets for the State Artist’s performance on September 9th are still available via oeticket.at and in the Gmundner bookstore POETENBLAU (Alexandra Bachner). (gs)
