If on the one hand there is great demand for electric cars, but on the other hand the semiconductor crisis, the aftermath of the corona pandemic and the Ukraine war delay production, this sometimes leads to very long waiting times for the new vehicle.
VW has now reacted to this and promises shorter delivery times for the fully electric models ID.4 and ID.5, depending on the equipment selected. In concrete terms, this means that vehicles ordered by mid-August can ideally be delivered this year. This is made possible by a better supply of parts and an expansion of production capacities.
This also applies to the VW ID.4 Pro, which is now optionally available with all-wheel drive (from 53,190 euros). The drive train of the VW ID.4 Pro 4Motion consists of two electric motors (one each on the front and rear axles) with a system output of 195 kW (265 hp), a battery pack with a net capacity of 77 kilowatt hours (kWh) and an all-wheel drive. The latter also makes the ID.4 a towing vehicle – with a towing capacity of at least 1200 kilograms. This can also be used to tow a smaller caravan. Volkswagen specifies the maximum range as 511 kilometers (according to WLTP).
135 kW maximum charging power
The maximum charging capacity of the 4.58 meter long VW ID.4 with all-wheel drive is 135 kilowatts (fast charging station). Ideally, the high-voltage battery can be charged from five percent to a state of charge (SoC) of 80 percent in 36 minutes and offers a range of a further 337 kilometers (WLTP). That and the generously sized trunk (543 to 1575 liters) predestine the VW ID.4 Pro with all-wheel drive for long-distance journeys as well. (shoe)
