The Cape Verde Scientific Police said the arrest was made on August 7 by the Judicial Police’s Central Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime Investigation Unit as part of the prevention and suppression of illegal international traffic by air.
A 23-year-old woman, whose foreign nationality has not been released, was arrested at the crime scene at Nelson Mandela International Airport with 23 cocaine capsules in her stomach.
On charges of international drug trafficking, the detainee was brought before a court the next day, which used preventive detention as a coercive measure.
