A former executive of the Trump Organization puts the tycoon in trouble

The defendant pleaded guilty to all 15 charges against him. Weisselberg was indicted along with the company in June 2021, after the Justice Department questioned the Trump Organization’s accounting, on suspicion that he kept parallel accounting to avoid paying taxes.

In Weisselberg’s case, the prosecution alleges that he would have underreported income of $1.7 million.

His lawyer, Nicholas Gravante, explained that the former financier made “one of the most difficult decisions of his life” to end “years of legal and personal nightmares” for both him and his family.

Faced with the “possibility” of being sentenced to 15 years in prison, he agreed to serve “one hundred days,” according to statements reproduced by ABC News. He will also have to pay $1.94 million in back taxes and penalties.

Prosecutor Alvin Bragg expanded the focus and stressed that the agreement with Weisselberg implies that the Trump Organization also engaged in “criminal activity”, so he hopes that the “valuable testimony” of the former director will serve to shed light on the alleged business traps.

The guilty plea pits Weisselberg against the Trump Organization, where he worked for 40 years, and his testimony could affect the company if it goes to trial on related tax charges in a trial scheduled for October.
