The workshop of the Lebenshilfe Oberösterreich in Gmunden has had a new manager in Stefanie Huemer since March. The 33-year-old would like to open up the workshop more to the outside world in the future and cordially invites companies and associations to get in touch for joint projects. The Lebenshilfe is also looking for volunteers who would like to support the workshop on a voluntary basis.
Stefanie Huemer returned to her first internship as part of her Matura when she took over the management of the Lebenshilfe workshop in Gmunden. “That was the most exciting and formative time for me professionally. I found the work to be extremely valuable. There is such warmth there and you experience so much with the people with disabilities to be accompanied. I was always able to make a great contribution and try out many things,” says Huemer about her motivation for working in the disability department.
The 33-year-old, who grew up in Neukirchen near Altmünster and now lives in St. Konrad, studied health management and, after two years of work in a hospital, began to work in the Steyrermühl residential building. After graduating as a social worker in accompanying people with disabilities and a short trip to another provider, she is now looking forward to being able to play an even greater role in the management function at Lebenshilfe Upper Austria. One of Huemer’s major concerns is the misconception that prevails in society towards people with disabilities: “People with disabilities are often not given enough credit and the focus is placed on the impairment – but they want and can achieve something.”
The external group and art workshop of the Lebenshilfe-Werkstätte Gmunden already have good networks and are well known. Ferdinand Reisenbichler built up the art workshop over the past 30 years. Sarah Schindelar took over the management when he retired in the spring. The gallery at Rinnholzplatz is operated in cooperation with the Kunstforum Salzkammergut. Artists work in the gallery on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and Fridays from 9.30 a.m. to 11.20 a.m. and at the same time invite you to view the changing exhibitions.
The seven employees of the external group do green space maintenance and winter services for the municipality of Gmunden, for self-help facilities and for private clients.
