“The inspection of the bodies ended around 1:00 in the morning. It was established that there are four bodies, three male and one female, probably between 25 and 40 years old,” Deputy Commander told W Radio. Bogota Police, Colonel Helbert Benavides.
Images from the news program Noticias Caracol show several uniformed officers surrounding a 4×4 parked on the edge of one of the main access roads to Bogotá. The authorities have not yet identified the bodies, which according to a first report had “injuries, apparently, by firearm“.
“They are near the entrance to the city. We are checking where this vehicle could have been during the day. We don’t know if they entered (the city) or where they came from,” Benavides said.
“It can be inferred that they were left in that place, that they had died hours before, you can talk about a possible reckoning“between drug gangs, added the colonel.
In recent months, several human remains have been found in the streets of Bogotá, in events that the authorities attribute to disputes between the gangs that control the illegal drug market in the capital of Colombia.
“We have some criminal structures, we have issues of microtrafficking and many of these reckonings are due to these situations,” Benavides acknowledged.
Colombia is experiencing an escalation of violence with more than 60 massacres so far this year, according to the independent study center helpless.
After five decades of anti-drug warfare backed by USAColombia continues to be the main producer of cocaine in the world and the North American country the largest consumer.
