Hopes for rain are high – the weekend has started promisingly, but the weather conditions don’t last long.
During the night on Saturday, a cool north-westerly wind picked up. The day will be rainy and cool. In the Salzkammergut and in the Innviertel it will rain extensively, says Alexander Ohms, meteorologist at ZAMG. 30 to 40 liters per square meter can be expected there. In the other parts of the country, less precipitation falls with five to 15 liters. “This is not yet the long-awaited rain that will end the drought,” says Ohms.
Only in the west of Upper Austria, which is anyway not as dry as the Mühlviertel and the central area, can the rain alleviate the drought. Already on Sunday it will be drier again and the sun will appear. That’s how it will stay next week. “From the middle of the week, temperatures of around 30 degrees are possible again,” says the meteorologist.
