The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. A column of smoke was visible from afar. Numerous emergency calls were received, the district command reported. The affected area is on the so-called Harzberg below the Jubilee Observatory. The conditions for the helpers were difficult. The work was done on steep terrain, and the wind also played a role.
According to Schneider, the fire was largely gone shortly after 3:30 p.m. About an hour later it was “fire out”. In addition to around 100 firefighters, rescue workers and members of the executive branch were also on the spot. Support also came from a police helicopter. The first investigations into the cause of the fire were made by officials on Saturday.
