There was a sixfold triumph for the Upper Austrian fire brigade offspring on Saturday at the national performance competition in Traiskirchen and Pfaffstätten in Lower Austria. The challenge was to complete an obstacle course and a 400-meter relay race as quickly as possible and without making any mistakes. The youth competition group from Guttenberg (Vöcklabruck district) mastered this best: They won ahead of Allerheiligen/Lebring (Perg district) and the Erdleiten youth group from the Freistadt district. The groups from Winden/Windegg, St. Martin im Mühlkreis and Bad Mühllacken finished fourth to sixth.

With the girls’ group from Mitteregg-Haagen/Sand (Steyr-Land district), a group from Upper Austria also won.
52 competition groups with more than 500 members took part in the 23rd national competition. They were welcomed at the opening ceremony on Traiskirchner’s main square by Fire Department President Robert Mayer and State Secretary Claudia Plakolm, who is responsible for youth. Many fans from Upper Austria came with the young firefighters to loudly cheer on the youth groups on the sports field.
The next federal fire brigade youth competition will take place in Lienz (East Tyrol) in 2023.
