At least 30 people were killed and 40 injured in an attack on a hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, by the al-Shabaab jihadist group, according to the latest assessment by Somali authorities this Saturday.
The Somali authorities initially reported eight civilian deaths, then updated the figure to 14 dead, and now they are talking about at least three dozen dead and 40 injured, the Europa Press news agency reported, citing the official preliminary balance sheet.
The balance was declared by the official Somali media and reported by the news portal Garowe On Line, adding that elite, Turkish-trained Haramacad forces have been deployed to the site to end clashes with al-Shabaab elements that have lasted more than 20 hours.
