The once British car brand MG, which is now part of the Chinese car group SAIC, is on the move – and not just on the home market. The one millionth vehicle destined for export rolled off the assembly line in China in June. This makes MG the Chinese brand with the most overseas exports; The vehicles can already be bought in 84 countries.
There is also strong growth in Austria – albeit from a low level: last year 719 vehicles with the MG logo were newly registered, this year there were already 425 units in the first half of the year. MG is gaining further impetus with the new MG5, the first all-electric station wagon (the first driving impressions were in the OÖN engine section of August 13), and with the all-electric five-door MG4, the first examples of which will be delivered this year. The five-door in Golf format is available with two battery packs – with a capacity of 51 and 64 kilowatt hours (kWh). MG Motors promises a range of up to 450 kilometers. It is remarkable that the battery packs are only eleven centimeters high. This favors a better use of the interior space.
The MG4 Electric hatchback, rear-wheel drive and 50:50 front/rear weight distribution has an electric drive with two power levels (125 and 150 kW). The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in less than eight seconds; propulsion ends at 160 km/h.
Delivery this year
Anyone who is flirting with an MG4 Electric can make a non-binding reservation, the first thousand cars will be delivered this year. However, the price has not yet been determined. However, SAIC has already announced the prices for Great Britain – there the MG4 Electric costs at least 28,495 pounds, i.e. around 33,700 euros. However, this is only a rough guideline. (shoe)
