Fraud: Linzer is to be delivered soon

In Landshut in Bavaria, a 46-year-old native of Linz is in extradition custody. As reported, the man is accused of cheating a German aid organization out of 1.3 million with investment fraud.

Alois Ebner from the public prosecutor’s office in Ried im Innkreis, which is responsible for this case, expects that the suspect “will come to us as soon as possible”. The prosecution had issued an international arrest warrant against the man because he was last not resident in Germany. The 46-year-old was arrested at Munich Airport on Friday. Supposedly he wanted to fly to the island of Kos.

According to the current state of investigation, the club had a US investor who is said to have paid the 1.3 million euros into an “escrow account”.

In November 2021, the accused is said to have signed a contract with the organization in Suben in the Schärding district and promised exorbitant profits, according to Ebner. The aid organization should have shared in the promised exorbitant returns. When nothing came, the victims filed a complaint. Investigators have been investigating since June. Another company is involved and it is still very unclear who really benefited from the deal.

Awaiting interrogation

The investigation and, above all, the interrogation of the suspect would show whether there were other suspects, says the Rieder public prosecutor. It could take a week or two before the man is in Upper Austria and the State Criminal Police Office can confront him with the allegations. If you are convicted of serious fraud, you can face a prison sentence of up to ten years.
