Davide Carnielli, the Trentino mountaineer who had been hospitalized in Treviso since the Marmolada glacier accident on July 3, left 11 dead, has woken up from a coma. This is what his sister Valeria wrote on Facebook. “Davide is in an awakening phase. A long road to recovery awaits him, accompanied by the love of his family,” said the woman.
She thanked the rescuers, the President of the Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, and the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia. However, the patient must undergo further therapies before he can leave the hospital.
The 30-year-old climber was initially reported missing after the accident and was found by his family in the Treviso hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition and without identification. Six men and three women from Italy and two Czech climbers died in the accident.
