After the preparatory work in the Ministry of Climate Protection and Ministry of Finance could be completed more quickly, the money will be transferred in September, according to the two departments of the APA on Wednesday. 300,000 randomly selected people are to receive the 500 euros starting tomorrow. The payout was originally planned for October 1st.
The climate bonus is intended to reward climate-friendly behavior in connection with the eco-social tax reform. As part of the government’s six billion euro anti-inflation package, it was increased from the original 100 to 200 euros to 250 euros for this year, depending on the residential area, and a further 250 euros for inflation compensation was added.
Application not necessary
An application is not necessary to receive the climate bonus, the payment is made automatically. Anyone with a current account number in FinanceOnline has registered or receives benefits from the pension insurance institution, the money is transferred to his account. The Ministry of Climate Protection receives the necessary data from the Ministry of Finance and the pension insurance. All others receive the climate bonus as a voucher.
The climate bonus and the anti-inflation bonus are important instruments for relieving the burden on people in Austria. “This relief is now coming even faster than originally planned,” said climate protection minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens). Inflation is a real problem for many, which is why the government has been helping with different packages for months, emphasized Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP). “Whenever possible, we prefer financial help.” Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) was also pleased. “If you help quickly, you help twice – we do both.”
