About 650 people attended, according to police, most of them from the Ukrainian community. The Bishop of Linz, Manfred Scheuer, also showed solidarity and invited everyone to pray together on the main square. The peaceful protest was organized by Cafe Kyiv and several aid organizations in Upper Austria.
The opening rally took place at 5:30 p.m. at the Volksgarten, after which the participants marched across the country road to the main square with an 18-metre flag in the national colors of Ukraine. There, politicians and refugees had their say before the march continued to the Ars Electronic Center. Candles were lit and prayers said for the victims of the war. There were many flags, flowers and hair wreaths, all of course in the national colors of blue and yellow.
