Preliminary data from CNE speaks of the victory of the MPLA with 60.65% of the vote in the elections in Angola.

National Electoral CommissionCNE) released in the early hours of Thursday the first preliminary results of the general elections in Angola.

The preliminary result gives the MPLA victory with 60.65% of the vote.

It is followed by UNITA with 33.85% PRS at 1.45%, FNLA at 1.28%, PHA at 1.05%, CASA-CE at 0.70%, APN at 0.51% and P-NJANGO at 0.48%.

So far, 33% of the votes have been counted.

At a press conference for journalists, UNITA has already challenged the result presented by CNE. Abel Chivukuvuku, the party’s nominee for Angola’s vice president, assured that the data will continue to be scrutinized as they believe there are “clear early indicators of a winning trend.”
