Gamescom, the largest trade fair for computer and video games, will take place until Sunday. After two years without an audience, hundreds of thousands of game enthusiasts are bustling around in Cologne again this year. An overview of the world premieres and new announcements from Gamescom.
Return to Monkey Island: The wait was long, but now everything is happening very quickly. On September 19th, the young pirate Guybrush Threepwood will return to our screens – more precisely to those of Windows PC and Mac (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders are now possible. The sixth part of the cult Monkey Island series from the development studio Terrible Toybox follows on from Monkey Island 2, which was released in 1991.

The Lords of the Fallen: A sequel to Lords of the Fallen, released in 2014, was announced later that year. Almost eight years later, it is finally certain: Part two will be released in 2023 for PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The story ties in with the first part, the game world should be more than five times as big. The developer studio is new: Hexworks, an offshoot of CI Games, is coming into play.

Dune: Awakening: The Norwegian developer studio Funcom presented a trailer that is at least visually impressive at Gamescom. So far, however, it is only known that the game is an MMO game (mass multiplayer online game). A release date was not mentioned.

Dead Island 2: It’s been eleven years since developer Techland turned a paradisiacal vacation island into a zombie kingdom. The announced second part was a long time coming. And because the development studio has changed three times over the years (Deep Silver Dambuster Studios is currently responsible for the production), many fans of the survival shooter no longer believed in a sequel. One thing is certain: From February 3, 2023, you can go zombie hunting in virtual Los Angeles on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS 4 and PS 5.

Read of P: We control the puppet Pinocchio and help her to become a real person – with lies, among other things. What sounds like a harmless adventure turns out to be a dark action role-playing game from Round8 with a creative story and unusual ideas. In 2023, Lies of P will be available for Playstation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Hogwarts Legacy: Another action role-playing game, this time combined with Harry Potter and lots of dark magic. On February 10th it should be ready for users of PS 5, PS 4, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
