“25 percent of the Attersee shore is freely accessible”

“25 percent of the Attersee shore is freely accessible”

The state government reacted quickly to an OÖN report: On the DORIS online service portal, a privately owned built-up shore zone was presented as “freely accessible”. The error has already been corrected.

At the same time, Economics and Tourism Councilor Markus Achleitner (ÖVP) remains: “Twelve kilometers of the approximately 48-kilometer-long shoreline of Lake Attersee are freely accessible. That’s 25 percent of the shore.” According to Achleitner, the display error on DORIS did not change the facts. His numbers were collected by the Austrian Federal Forests and Landesimmobilien GmbH. At the same time, Achleitner criticizes the “exaggerated green scandal”.

As reported, Attersee’s mayor, Rudolf Hemetsberger (Green Party), considers Achleitner’s numbers far too high. According to Hemetsberger, only 13 percent of the shore is freely accessible.

The difference could be related to the fact that a number of shore zones are not privatized but are still inaccessible – or unsuitable for swimming.
