The young driver from the Braunau district drove his car on the B 156 in the direction of Salzburg on Thursday at around 4:10 p.m. Witnesses reported that the 21-year-old overtook other vehicles several times and was driving at too high a speed.
Frontal in oncoming traffic
In St. Georgen am Fillmannsbach, he got his car into the left lane at the end of a long right-hand bend. He swerved the car to the right and touched the guardrail. The vehicle was then thrown head-on against the oncoming car of a 44-year-old German, uncontrolled and without braking. He was on his way to Braunau coming from the direction of Salzburg. His 36-year-old partner was in the passenger seat and their three-year-old daughter was in a child seat in the back seat.

A resident who heard the collision alerted the rescue team. The two drivers, the woman and the child were injured in the accident. The 44-year-old was trapped in the car and had to be rescued by the fire department.
The 21-year-old was flown to the UKH in Salzburg with the Europa 3 rescue helicopter. The C 6 rescue helicopter brought the 44-year-old to the LKH Salzburg. The 36-year-old and her daughter were taken to the Altötting hospital by the ambulance. Both cars were totaled.
