The 43-year-old is accused of raping a woman in Bad Erlach on the night of June 24th. In addition, the accused is said to be responsible for such an attempt on the 5th of the same month, also during the night hours.
The man was arrested and taken to the Wiener Neustadt prison, said Erich Habitzl, spokesman for the prosecution, on request. Application for detention had been made. Seized traces would be evaluated and compared with the DNA of the accused asylum seeker.
According to Habitzl, the man is currently being investigated on suspicion of attempted robbery. It was only on Thursday that the 43-year-old was said to have knocked over a woman in Lanzenkirchen, also in the Wiener Neustadt district. The suspect was disturbed, fled and was subsequently arrested.
