A 46-year-old vacationer from Germany drowned in Lake Millstatt on Friday afternoon. A police spokesman confirmed a corresponding report by ORF Carinthia. The man was on a stand-up paddle board in the southern area of the lake near Döbriach (Ferndorf, Villach-Land district) when he fell into the water. Divers recovered the body from a depth of 34 meters. How exactly the accident happened was initially unclear.
There was also a fatal accident in Lake Wörthersee: a 75-year-old woman from Klagenfurt died there late on Friday afternoon. Two German vacationers who were traveling by pedal boat had found the woman floating in the water, rescued her and immediately initiated resuscitation measures. But even the notified emergency doctor could no longer help, and the rescue attempts were unsuccessful. The swimming accident happened in the Metnitz beach area in the east bay of Klagenfurt.
