Celebrate exuberantly like in the past at the Welser Volksfest

Preparations are currently in full swing, many rides have almost been set up and are being polished to a high gloss, the large marquee “Zum Ludwig” is already up. There are only five days left until the Welser Volksfest begins on Thursday, September 1st, with the test lighting and the beer tapping. The OÖ Nachrichten are media partners of the traditional event, which took place for the first time in 1878. By Sunday, tens of thousands of visitors will be celebrating exuberantly on the exhibition grounds – and for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic they can do so without corona restrictions.

The measure around 11.10 euros

“We are expecting a very good fair. Landlord Ludwig Kleinlehner is very satisfied with the pre-bookings from companies and groups who will celebrate in the marquee,” says fair director Robert Schneider. And he emphasizes that the prices have not increased compared to the folk festival in the spring: A beer costs 11.10 euros, a pint is served for 5.60 euros, and you can, for example, enjoy a grilled chicken for 10.20 euros.

Several groups and a DJ will set the mood musically in the marquee. “Die Wilden Kaiser” will kick off on Thursday, “Die Partyhirschen” on Friday and “Zwirn” on Saturday will get the crowd going. The market music band Micheldorf was hired for the morning pint on Sunday.

There is an unwritten dress code at the “Voiki”: The ladies appear in dirndls, regardless of whether they are festively long or short, depending on their mood. The gentlemen come to the traditional festival in proper lederhosen and traditional jackets. The festival also includes extensive testing of the rides in the amusement park. This year there is an even bigger offer than usual. Thrills are guaranteed with Ghost Train, Chaos, Panic, Sky Flyer, No Limit, Black Out and many other large and small rides. Only the big Ferris wheel will be missing for some. Because the construction is very complex, the bottom line is that it doesn’t pay off for the showman at a three-day folk festival.

Weindorf opens again for the first time

In addition to the wine tasting, the wine village is also opening up to the young public again after a break of more than two years. “Besides the beer tent, something was still missing for the youngsters. In addition, the wine tasting at the folk festival in spring was overcrowded at peak times,” says Exhibition Director Schneider.

A visit on Friday afternoon is particularly recommended for families, from 1 p.m. there is a discount of up to 50 percent on the rides. The OÖ Nachrichten is represented with a stand where children can have their face painted.

On August 31, the Wels trade fair is giving away one hour of driving pleasure with rides of your choice for a total of four people under the motto “The hour of your life”.
