The Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki is a specialist in small cars, all-wheel drive and compact SUVs. The model portfolio is maintained accordingly, which can be seen, for example, in the long-running Vitara.
The compact SUV Suzuki S-Cross has also been in the program for a long time, which has lost the SX4 name suffix with the current new edition. The compact SUV with an exterior length of 4.3 meters has parked itself exactly between the Vitara (4.17 meters) and the Across. Since its presentation in 2013, the Suzuki S-Cross has sold more than 670,000 units worldwide – in a total of 102 countries.
Hybrid drive with 4×4 variant
Now the Japanese have submitted a full hybrid drive for the S-Cross in addition to the 129 hp mild hybrid variant, which we already know from the Vitara. The electrified drive train includes a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 102 hp and a maximum torque of 138 Newton meters, an electric motor with an output of 24 kW and 60 Newton meters of torque, which can also drive the vehicle alone at speeds of up to 80 km/h can drive, and a lithium-ion battery.
The system output is 85 kW/115 hp, the power transmission (front or all-wheel drive) is always via an automated six-speed manual transmission. Suzuki specifies the combined consumption as 5.2 liters for the front-wheel drive and 5.8 liters for the 4×4 variant. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 118 to 132 grams per kilometer.
With the all-wheel-drive variant “Allgrip”, the driver can choose between four driving modes depending on the nature of the road surface – Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock.
