The woman at the wheel was trapped and could only be freed from the wreck after about an hour. The seriously injured came to the hospital with the Martin 3 emergency doctor helicopter. The railway line was interrupted for around two hours, the police and fire brigade reported.
At around 9:00 a.m., the train crashed into the car on the unguarded level crossing. The car was dragged along for almost 40 meters before the Almtalbahn came to a standstill. The railway line had to be closed for more than two hours for the clean-up work. The railcar was so badly damaged in the collision that it could no longer continue. No occupants were injured on the train itself.
