Gschwandtner tour de force for Ukrainian families

The municipality made two residential units available in the vacant former Grafinger inn. However, the accommodations were so dilapidated that they were uninhabitable.

The helpers only had ten days to renovate the apartments. “I was pretty worried when I went to work on the first day,” says Klaus Leitgeb, head of the Gschwandtner aid organization. “But when I got there, there were already five cars with other helpers.”

A total of 15 volunteers lent a hand in the days that followed. Electricity and water lines were installed, sanitary facilities set up, new floors laid and the interior fittings assembled. In the end, the two apartments were completed on time and handed over to the refugee families ready to move into.
