Taylor Swift wins top honors at MTV Music Awards

Taylor Swift won the coveted Video of the Year trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday evening (local time) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The 32-year-old US singer also won the Best Director and Best Feature Music Video awards for her song “All Too Well” (Taylor’s Version). In her acceptance speech, she informed fans that she will be releasing a new album in October.

Harry Styles won “Album of the Year” at the MTV awards ceremony with “Harry’s House”, Billie Eilish won the award for Song of the Year with “Happier Than Ever”. Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X scooped multiple trophies including Best Collaboration (“Industry Baby”). Other honorees included Bad Bunny, Dove Cameron, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo and Italian rock band Måneskin.

Rapper Minaj also accepted the honorary Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The trophy is awarded in memory of video clip pioneer Michael Jackson.

The VMA awards have been presented since 1984. Fans can vote for their favorites online. The trophy is a “Moonman” – a small astronaut on the moon holding an MTV flag.
