That’s 29 more occupied beds than on Sunday, but 118 fewer than a week ago. 66 infected people were cared for in intensive care units, this number fell by eight since the previous day and by six within a week. Within 24 hours there were 2,708 confirmed new infections and one further registered Covid death. As is usual on a Monday, the value of new infections was below the average of the past seven days of currently 4,693 infections per day. The seven-day incidence (total number of new cases within a week) per 100,000 inhabitants fell slightly from 369 to 364 cases on the previous day. 33,723 reported PCR test results from Sunday to Monday are half as many as the current daily average. In the past 24 hours, eight percent of the tests have been positive.
401 new infections in Upper Austria
There were 104 new infections in Burgenland, 283 in Carinthia and 676 in Lower Austria. Upper Austria reported 401 more cases, Salzburg 154 and Styria 190. There were 116 new infections in Tyrol, 91 in Vorarlberg and 693 in Vienna.
Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,898,260 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases in Austria. 4,810,689 people have had one or more infections, and 3,882 were considered free of the virus within the past 24 hours. According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and Health, 19,395 people affected have died. As of Monday there were 68,176 active cases, 1,175 fewer currently infected than the day before. According to the AGES count, however, there are already 20,623 Covid deaths in Austria.
