Heads roll at Rapid – cooperation with Kuhn is ended

After club president Martin Bruckner withdrew his candidacy for re-election and Christoph Peschek resigned from his position as business manager, the contract with the former general manager Werner Kuhn will no longer be extended. The “Kronen Zeitung” reported on Monday that the cooperation, which ran until the end of the year, had been terminated without notice.

Kuhn, who most recently worked independently in marketing issues in Hütteldorf, had to vacate his office in the stadium on Sunday, according to “Krone”. The association itself briefly stated in a broadcast that the cooperation would not be continued. The 68-year-old Kuhn was General Manager at Rapid from 1994 to February 2015 and then acted as business director in the area of major sponsors.

“We are in an economically extremely challenging phase, which makes it extremely difficult to acquire new partners and sponsors. In this context, we have decided to enter into a cooperation with an international sports rights marketer,” Rapid President Bruckner was quoted as saying in the broadcast. The association therefore wants to position itself more broadly in this area.

Several media reported on Monday that there had been a loss of confidence in Kuhn’s personnel. So it should have been smoldering between the 68-year-old and the outgoing club leadership for a long time. Kuhn is attributed to the supporters of a list of Rapid icon Steffen Hofmann.
