For a month now, screenshots of the “Hitler Quarter” have been floating around the internet.
As early as September 2015, several media reported about a small settlement in southern Italy. The houses are located in a neighborhood of the small town of Specchiolla and were built in the 1990s. The residents themselves were surprised to learn that their houses, viewed from above, are in the shape of swastikas. To this day it is unclear who is responsible for the construction.
However, the name “Hitler Quarter” only exists on the Internet. The solution to this is simple: someone obviously came up with the idea of giving this settlement a name on Google Maps. Any internet user can apply for one. So the housing estate actually exists, but the name is fictitious.
