The number of active cases of Covid-19 in Cape Verde fell this Monday to 17, according to data released by the Ministry of Health, and the country has not recorded a single death caused by the disease for more than a month.
Since the start of the pandemic, in March 2020, a total of 62,310 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Cape Verde, resulting in 410 deaths, according to the epidemiological bulletin this Monday, the last of which occurred on July 26.
Exactly one week ago there were 27 active cases in the country, and the previous Monday there were 42 cases that have been decreasing consistently for several weeks.
Over the past 14 days, from 15 to 28 August, Cape Verdean laboratories have analyzed 8,572 samples and confirmed 57 new cases of Covid-19 across the country. The incidence rate accumulated at the national level during this period decreased to 10 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, the transmissibility coefficient (Rt) is 0.76, and the positivity rate averaged 0.7%.
In the previous 14 days, on August 14, Cape Verdean laboratories analyzed 7487 samples and confirmed 93 new cases of Covid-19 nationwide.
The cumulative incidence rate at the national level during this period was 16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the transmissibility rate (Rt) was 0.88, and the positivity rate averaged 1.2%.
“At the moment, there are no people hospitalized in Cape Verde hospitals due to Covid-19,” the bulletin published this Monday said.
