Corona: Hospital cases have fallen by 27 percent since the beginning of the month

As of August 1, 1,559 people were still hospitalized, down 27 percent. 4,654 new infections have been reported in the past 24 hours, the seven-day incidence was 361.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

As of Tuesday, there are 65,623 active cases in Austria, down 2,553 from the day before. On August 1, 101,174 laboratory-confirmed active Austrians infected with corona were still registered, so their number has fallen by 35 percent since then.

As of August 30, 69 people were being cared for in intensive care units, compared to 72 in the previous week. There have been twelve deaths since yesterday, the seven-day average was 7.1 a day and a total of 50 within a week. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 19,407 deaths in Austria since it broke out, but the AGES dashboard already reported 20,628 deaths yesterday, Monday – the reason for this is the backlog of late reports from the federal states to the ministries.

A total of 87,256 rapid PCR and antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours, of which 66,125 were more meaningful PCR tests with a positive rate of seven percent of the PCR tests. This 24-hour value is almost the average of the past week at 6.9 percent.

4,812 vaccinations were carried out on Monday, of which 3,759 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th and every further vaccination dose). 58.9 percent of Austrians are validly vaccinated according to the recommendation of the National Vaccination Committee (NIG).
