Authorities in central China announced on Monday the arrest of 234 people involved in a “pyramid scheme” that resulted in the loss of savings of customers of small rural banks.
The scandal drew national attention after investors trying to get their money back were not allowed to travel to the Henan provincial capital, Zhengzhou, when an app to track and store covid-19 test results needed to travel and access public places in China suddenly blushed.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, local governments in China have issued these codes, which certify that the user has not been at risk of infection or has not been in contact with infected people.
