Portugal has already granted temporary protection to 51,232 Ukrainian citizens and foreigners who lived in the country and fled the war, with the largest number in Lisbon (10,912), the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) said on Monday.
Of the 51,232 temporary protections granted since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 30,575 are for women and 20,657 for men, according to the SEF, adding that minors make up 13,593 of the total.
After Lisbon, the municipalities with the most temporary protections are Cascais (3075), Porto (2493), Sintra (1763) and Albufeira (1270).
With regard to temporary protection residence permit certificates containing the user’s health, social security and tax ID numbers issued by the respective organizations, the SEF reports that it has already issued 42,343.
With regard to minors, the SEF points out, temporary protection is granted, according to Portuguese law, there are two categories: accompanied and unaccompanied.
During the allocation process, citizens can familiarize themselves with the numbers, which in the meantime are distributed in their reserved area of the digital platform https://sefforukraine.sef.pt.
The request for temporary protection in Portugal can be submitted through the “online” platform created by the SEF, available in three languages, it is not necessary for adults to use the counters of this security service. However, in the case of minors, it is imperative that you contact the SEF office to verify your identity and affiliation.
