The maritime police and Sintra municipal police identified a 30-year-old man who was hit by the wing of an aircraft participating in a religious procession in Praia das Masas in Sintra, which affected his stability.
The incident happened around 6:00 pm on Sunday.
The identified man, who lives in the municipality of Sintra, went to the beach as a bather in the company of family and friends.
As soon as he saw the approaching plane, he tried to hit him with the ball three times.
Only on the third attempt did he hit one wing of the plane. Eyewitnesses who saw and even filmed the situation on camera saw a clear loss of stability of the aircraft.
The pilot barely managed to stabilize it. He then proceeded with the planned release of the flower petals onto the sand.
The man was denounced by the Nossa Señora da Praia das Mazas marchers and was identified and notified of his presence in court on Monday morning.
He was charged with assault on a vehicle and/or aircraft.
