Goldenergy will raise the price of gas for residential and small businesses by around six euros, with the new tariff effective from October until the end of the year, as announced.
“Most Goldenergy customers will receive an average of six euros per month (tax included),” the company said in a statement.
In winter, taking into account the customers of each category and their profile, this increase will mean, on average, an additional 10 euros in monthly gas bills.
The energy industry justified this growth with the cost of managed access, market volatility, and rising gas prices.
The new tariff comes into force on October 1 and will be applied until the end of the year, subject to revision in light of market changes.
“We at Goldenergy continue to work to provide the best service at the best price. Even with the current situation in the wholesale market, Goldenergy will make every effort to achieve a controlled, albeit unavoidable, increase in gas prices in order to minimize the impact on its customers,” Executive President Miguel Checa said in a statement.
The official also stressed that the measures taken should take into account the “savings possible” for customers, as well as promote energy efficiency, the use of other energy sources, as well as responsible use and sustainability.
On Thursday, the government announced that it would propose lifting existing legal restrictions to allow families and small businesses access to a regulated market, subject to an increase announced on Wednesday.
“The government has decided that it will offer to remove existing legal restrictions to allow families and small businesses access to a regulated market. [do gás natural]said Environment Minister Duarte Cordeiro at a press conference.
According to the official, the measure applies to 1.5 million customers.
