“I’m happy that the fans, not only in Germany, think about him so much. People ask so much about Michael. The fans should know that he’s in the best hands. In the best situation he can be , and surrounded by people who love him,” Todt told “Sport Bild”.
However, the Frenchman did not give any details about Schumacher’s state of health. The 53-year-old has been shielded from the public in his adopted country of Switzerland since a skiing accident at the end of 2013, in which he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. The 76-year-old Todt once celebrated titles and race wins with Schumacher at Ferrari and is still a very close family friend to this day.
“As long as I’m in this world, I will always visit them,” said Todt about the Schumachers: “Sometimes we see each other three times a week, sometimes not for a whole month. They are my friends and we are in constant contact. Whatever I can do for the Schumacher family, I will do.”
