According to the Ministry of Energy, the storage target of 80 percent by November 1st is still achievable.
Gazprom has announced that the Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 1 will be closed for maintenance from August 31 to September 2. The gas deliveries to Austria announced for today would roughly correspond to the quantities that flowed during the past Nord Stream 1 maintenance, the ministry said. Gas transport through the pipeline has been throttled for weeks and is at around 20 percent capacity. The delivery volumes via Ukraine are stable. The missing quantities from Russia could be compensated for with additional purchases.
On average, domestic gas storage facilities are currently 66 percent full, which corresponds to 63.1 terawatt hours (TWh) of gas and around 71 percent of annual gas consumption. The OMV storage facility currently has the highest filling level at 91 percent. According to experts, the goal of filling the domestic gas storage tanks by 80 percent by November 1st is still achievable, the Ministry of Energy announced.
In the past few days, between 400 and 450 gigawatt hours (GWh) of gas have been stored every day. The strategic reserve of 20 TWh will also be fully stored by November 1st.
