After a murder in the stadium,Vorwarts wants to take on the leading role on Friday

Until Friday, the Liwest Arena of SK Verwarts Steyr on Volksstrasse will serve as the home of the fictitious women’s soccer team FC Apolonia. The SOKO Linz team chose the Red and White Stadium as the scene of a murder and has been shooting since Monday with Katharina Stemberger, Daniel Gawlowski and the 44-year-old local hero Miriam Hie, who was born in Steyr, in the leading roles.

On Friday from 8.30 p.m. the protagonists will change: the players from Verwarts Steyr and FC Admira, who have been relegated to the Bundesliga, take on the leading roles. And both teams will do this with a lot of self-confidence: The red-whites have been unbeaten at home for almost a year – the 1: 3 against Lafnitz on October 22nd – the Lower Austrians travel as currently third in the table and with a sovereign 3: 0 cup win against Altach in the luggage to Steyr.

Admira is one of the most unpleasant opponents in the league in its current form, confirms forwards coach Daniel Madlener, who still believes his team is capable of continuing the home series and three points: “We want to spoil the perfect week for Admira and show that we are at home are a force,” says the Vorarlberger, who once immortalized himself as a goalscorer in the 2-2 Bundesliga home game against Admira 28 years ago. This time he would be satisfied if his team didn’t concede another stupid goal, as they have done so often this season.

Madlener does not yet have a clearly defined script for the home game in the evening. With Joel Dombaxi (three goals), Oguzhan Sivrikaya, Tolga Günes, Tobias Pellegrini (two goals each) and Alem Pasic (one goal), five players have already shot themselves into a leading role this season.

“Our team needs to grow together even more and become a unit in which responsibilities are clearly defined,” says Madlener. Without these regular setbacks, his eleven would already have ten points and would be almost level with Admira: “We deserved it because of our performance.”

Incidentally, the last victory of the Steyrers against the Südstadters was more than 27 years ago. At that time, Gernot Krinner scored in the 1-0 home win of the Red and Whites.
