LINZ. On Wednesday it had rained, yesterday on the opening day of the three-day “Wine & Art” festival organized by the “Verein Altstadt neu” it was still cloudy, but already inviting. And: After a two-year break due to corona, the traditional event can finally take place again. That was also the tenor at the opening. “We’re happy to be back,” said club chairman Roland Pachner. The wine festival in the old town has been a fixed point in the event calendar for at least 25 years.
The joy about the return of “Wein & Kunst” was also evident from the many visitors who came to see the old town on the first evening. As reported, up to and including Saturday, 64 winegrowers from Lower Austria, Burgenland, Styria and Upper Austria (two winegrowers are present in Linz) will serve wine lovers their fine wines for tasting. Visitors can enjoy the offer from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Among the wines will also be the “Linz Wine of the Year 2022/23”, which was awarded by a jury in a blind tasting. Which wine was awarded will not be officially announced until this afternoon. At this point, the weather should also be at its best. According to the forecast, it will be sunny and warm with a summer temperature of around 25 degrees. Ideal weather for a visit to “Wein & Kunst”. From experience, Pachner expects many visitors, especially on Friday and Saturday.
By the way: At the wine festival presented by OÖN you can do good with a (bought and then donated) wine glass.
