Right-wing extremism: Upper Austria sad leader

This is less than in the same period of the previous year (342), but more than from January up to and including June 2020 (253). Most incidents with a right-wing extremist background were in Upper Austria, followed by Vienna, according to a query from the Ministry of the Interior to SPÖ mandater Sabine Schatz.

The majority of the perpetrators were male. Of those investigated, 153 were men but only 20 were women. 47 crimes took place on the Internet.

As far as anti-Semitic acts are concerned, 15 were registered, Islamophobic only one. The number of people who were reported for violating the prohibition law is high, namely 331. In 136 cases, the perpetrator is unknown.

For Schatz, the number of prohibition laws is “terrifying”. Overall, she emphasizes that a decline in right-wing extremist acts should not be a reason to stand by and do nothing: “In fact, they are an alarming signal that action must finally be taken.” Schatz believes that the black-blue state government in Upper Austria must finally take action and take specific measures.
