Volodymyr Zelenskyy this Friday took part via videoconference in the Ambrosetti Forum, one of the most important meetings of the world economy, taking place in Cernobbio (northern Italy).

Zelenskyy made these statements hours after he criticized International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi for not demanding the demilitarization of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, located in southeastern Ukraine and currently under the control of Russian forces. . , after he led a mission of 14 experts to visit the complex on Thursday.

“Protecting a nuclear power plant is a guarantee against a nuclear catastrophe. We cannot afford the nuclear risk,” he added.

The President of Ukraine recalled that “Zaporozhye was attacked several times in the first nights of March, when it was occupied by the Russians.”

“We were one step away from disaster, and only thanks to Ukrainian engineers we managed to avoid the accident. If not for them, it would have been an accident worse than Chernobyl,” he said.

“We will do everything in our power to prevent this from happening. Ukrainian products have already been successfully delivered to 20 countries, including Ethiopia and Yemen, where the situation is especially serious. Our commitment to food security remains strong. is ready to help contain the new price chaos in Europe,” he concluded.
