982 people were in local hospitals, 14 fewer than the day before. 64 of the people were treated intensively, five fewer in a daily comparison. Three deaths were added in 24 hours, and 3,953 new infections were recorded.
The number of new infections is below the average of 4,199 cases over the past seven days. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants fell from 339 to 326 cases in a daily comparison. Of the 50,237 PCR tests in the past 24 hours, 7.9 percent were positive.
Burgenland reported 137 more cases, Carinthia 322 and Lower Austria 906. 638 infected people were added in Upper Austria, 165 in Salzburg and 462 in Styria. Tyrol registered 175 positive test results, Vorarlberg 113 and Vienna 1,035.
Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,921,112 confirmed cases in Austria. 4,839,413 people have had one or more infections, and 5,588 were considered free of the virus within the past 24 hours. There were around 62,000 active cases in the country as of Saturday.
13,879 Covid vaccinations were carried out in Austria on Friday, 10,975 of which were booster vaccinations after the three-part basic immunization. The last time there were more vaccinations was on July 16 with around 16,000 immunizations.
A total of 503,353 people in the country have received a refresher (fourth stitch or beyond) to date. According to the recommendations of the doctors of the National Vaccination Committee (NIG), which were updated on Wednesday, this is now recommended for all people aged twelve and over six months after the last vaccination. There was also an increase in the third vaccinations on Friday to almost 2,500 immunizations in one day.
