A 56-year-old from the Braunau district drove his car on Saturday at around 4:20 a.m. in the district of Himmellindach, community of Braunau, coming from the B148 from the direction of Ranshofen, into the roundabout on the B147, Braunauerstraße. In doing so, he touched the marker posts and direction indicators on the inside of the roundabout. After the second exit, he finally lost control of his vehicle and was thrown out of the roundabout.
He crashed into a street lamp and was only stopped by a decorative or boundary stone of the gas station there. The lantern was bent over and the power supply exposed. An alcohol test showed a value of 1.96 per thousand. His driver’s license could not be taken from him on the spot because he did not have it with him; a report is filed with the Braunau district authority. The fire brigade secured the power cables lying on the accident site and the damaged electric vehicle. The emergency service from Energie AG switched off the power supply to the roundabout’s lighting system.
