Party leader Herbert Kickl launched an all-out attack on the federal government. Presidential candidate Walter Rosenkranz was not sparing in his criticism of the incumbent head of state, Alexander Van der Bellen.
They were received in Wels by Mayor Andreas Rabl and Upper Austria’s LH deputy Manfred Haimbuchner. Even if the two oö. FPÖ politicians with government responsibility do not necessarily share the blustering opposition course of their federal party leader, they marched in loyal unity with Kickl and Rosencrantz through a sea of red-white-red flags to the stage in the marquee.
“A Blue Wonder”
Haimbuchner left no doubt about Upper Austria as a blue stronghold, since more than a quarter of the 18,500 declarations of support for Rosencrantz come from “his” federal state. He expects an “interesting election campaign” at the end of which on October 9th you may experience “a blue miracle”. But he also wants to have a “serious discussion about the maximum age for certain offices in this republic,” he said with a look to the renewed appearance of the 78-year-old Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen in the Hofburg elections.

“Let’s get our Austria back,” promised Volksanwalt Rosenkranz, in accordance with the motto of the event and the previous Hofburg candidate Norbert Hofer, who was present in Wels. He immediately made it clear: “I am more liberal and will remain so.” And: “I will be present in the country.” Van der Bellen is “not the one who stands up for you,” he called out to the 4,000 followers, according to Mayor Rabl. “Therefore he has to be in the run-off at least once on October 9th.” Before that, Rosenkranz expects the head of state to “rethink” and discuss with him on TV.
Austria in “emergency situation”
According to the blue Ombudsman, not only he but also the other five federal presidential candidates would do better than the incumbent. Be it on the subject of health policy, where he signed laws that were subsequently “recognized as unconstitutional”. It is an “outrageous situation that our government no longer takes the constitution into account”.
Because of the inflation, Austria is in an “emergency situation”. Therefore, he would “uncompromisingly support Austria” and “take back our neutrality,” he promised. “The chance” that he would dismiss the current government as Federal President is “over 50 percent”.
Federal party chairman Kickl had previously explained the situation of the nation from a blue perspective in the beer tent. To the film music by Winnetou – according to Kickl “another decent redskin who would much rather smoke the peace pipe than dig up the hatchet” – he appeared in the “great city on the great stage”. He really got “goosebumps” from the melody, because the playing John Otti Band may be liable to prosecution for the “serious offense of cultural appropriation”.
In the case of “Paleface Ludwig”, Vienna’s SPÖ mayor, he found “shamelessness” with regard to the rise in fees. The blacks who “court illegal immigrants from abroad” are no better. Chancellor Karl Nehammer allowed himself to be led into a “senseless economic war” by the Greens.
According to Kickl, the task of the Blues is to turn things around”. To do this, “a man must become Federal President: Walter Rosenkranz – a youngster who is 60 years old in the body of a 30-year-old” and no Alexander Van der Bellen or better “Van the Biden”. And the party leader immediately added the next step: With a free federal chancellor, “politics will again be made for the silent majority”.
