On Friday afternoon, officers from the state traffic department and the district police command in Grieskirchen/Eferding took a stand: between 4:30 p.m. and midnight, a check was carried out with a focus on illegal vehicle tuning and speed. With success: more than 350 reports of various offenses were issued in just one evening, most of them for exceeding the speed limit.
At 141 km/h through the 70 zone
Of 2,349 vehicles measured by radar, 300 were traveling too fast. The sad leader was a driver who raced through the 70 zone at 141 km/h. Another driver was driving there at 135 km/h. The latter could be stopped. His driver’s license was taken from him on the spot, police said.
29 displays during tuning checks
Experts from the state government were also on site with regard to illegal vehicle tuning and noise. 63 vehicles were checked and noise measurements were taken on six cars. 43 motor vehicles were immediately subjected to a technical check. Defects with imminent danger (technology and noise) were identified on five vehicles; the license plates of these vehicles were removed on the spot. A total of 29 reports of technical defects were reported.
Penalties in the high four-digit range
Four drivers got behind the wheel of their car drunk. Two of these drivers had their driving licenses confiscated on the spot because they had a blood alcohol level of more than 0.8. The BH Grieskirchen/Eferding issued fines in the very high four-digit range on site, according to the police on Saturday.
