Home win against blue and white: Amstetten leads the table

Successful weekend for the two teams in the second Bundesliga from the region: SKU Amstetten took revenge for the cup defeat against Blau-Weiss Linz and won 1-0 at home. Forward Steyr caught up from a 1-0 deficit at home and won 2-1 against FC Admira Wacker Mödling. The SKV has now been unbeaten at home for a whopping 13 games.

Forward coach Daniel Madlener brought two new players in Nico Wiesinger and David Bumberger: This risk should pay off. David “Bumm-Bumm”-Bumberger shot the ball into the goal in the 69th minute to score the much-celebrated 2-1 winner. The Madlener-Elf did not let this lead be taken away. Wiesinger later had to be replaced injured. “It shouldn’t be that bad, he really wants to get back into training on Tuesday,” says Madlener. The coach is happy with the performance and the energy on the pitch. “Now we have to do that away from home as well.” According to Madlener, squad planning has been completed for the time being. “We still have room for improvement as a team, but as a club we live from developing players.”

While Blau-Weiss Linz beat SKU Amstetten 3-0 in the round of 16 in the cup a few days ago, the Fallmann team showed a completely different face in the home game. A hard fought first half with chances at both ends ended goalless. After the break, the home side came under a lot of pressure. The guests from Linz pushed for the lead. In the 70th minute the match had to be interrupted for a few minutes due to a thunderstorm. After the thunderstorm, Blue and White started swimming for a few moments. After a hair-raising defensive mistake, Joker Thomas Mayer netted the 1-0 with ten minutes to go. The guests pressed for the equalizer, but the home side saved the narrow lead and thus the lead in the table over time. “Linz came to us with a lot of confidence,” says SKU coach Jochen Fallmann. In the end you were rewarded for a heroic fight. “Duel behavior and commitment were one hundred percent correct.”
