The reason for the continuation of the gas supply stop via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline is being massively questioned by experts in Germany.
As reported, the Russian Gazprom surprisingly announced on Friday evening that it could not resume due to an oil leak in the Portovaya compressor station. Until this is stopped, no more gas can be delivered. The German Federal Network Agency doubts that. “According to the Bundesnetzagentur’s assessment, the defects alleged by the Russian side are not a technical reason for the cessation of operations.”
Siemens Energy, the manufacturer of the pump allegedly affected, also argues in this way. Sealing such leaks is a routine part of maintenance work. In Portovaya there would be enough turbines to operate the pipeline.
The Kremlin spokesman disagrees Dmitry Peskov. It is Europe’s task to maintain Gazprom’s plant accordingly. This was omitted in the course of the sanctions.
