Stadler’s winning time on the extreme course over 71.5 kilometers and 2440 meters in altitude, which was shortened by storm damage, was 3:19:18 hours and was almost two minutes faster than second-placed Daniel Eichmair. Third place went to Wolfgang Krenn. Last year’s winner Christoph Soukup had to give up after a fall. For Stadler, the Granitbeisser was optimal preparation for the Marathon World Championships in Denmark in mid-September.
Series winner Sabine Sommer won the women’s race for the tenth time in a time of 3:57 hours ahead of Karoline Neumüller and Anna Hofmann.
At the finish, the race participants did not shy away from praising the organizers: “The many spectators along the route, who constantly provide a motivational boost and a very attractive route, are a particular feature of Granitbeisser.”
The organization team takes stock with satisfaction
Among the almost 300 mountain bikers was Granitbeisser founder Herbert Lackner, who mastered the small route at the proud age of 82. With perfect cycling weather and track conditions, the Granitbeisser took place this year, as OC boss Manfred Buchberger reported: “It wasn’t always the case in recent years. A big thank you also goes to the volunteer helpers so that this event can be held in this high quality.”
Sporting best performances were also offered on the shorter race distances: Jan Pisar won the 38.3-kilometer medium competition and Lukas Enzenhofer was successful on the small distance over 16 kilometers. In the women’s category, Cornelia Holland won the medium distance and Martina Kugler won the small distance. The “Mühlviertler-Alm” championship went to Jürgen Obereder and Gabriele Schöfer on the medium route. Elias Eder and Petra Mörwald won the small route. The “Mühlviertler-Alm” championship was sponsored by the Raiffeisenbank Mühlviertler Alm.
